You should research the breed prior to making a decision. Cockers make for a great companion. they are medium in size, learn fast,easygoing,affectionate,gentle dog, and need humane contact to keep them this way. Cockers are very Social, and need that attention.
Also, Cockers do need to be groomed every 4 to 5 weeks. To maintained the coats.
